CBG, CBC & CBN for Pain & Anxiety Relief

Unveiling Non-Psychoactive Cannabinoids

You’ve all heard the term “cannabinoids” tossed around, but what are cannabinoids for practical purposes when you’re pondering an assortment of cannabis products looking for potential health benefits? Let’s start at the beginning.

Cannabinoids (“canna-bin-oids” with the accent on “canna”) are natural compounds found in nature, including roughly 100 of them found in cannabis plants.  Two of the most prevalent and widely known cannabinoids are THC, which is responsible for the psychoactive effects of cannabis, and the ubiquitous CBD.  CBD has no psychoactive effect at all (hence its legality nationwide as a standalone cannabinoid compound devoid of any psychoactive terpenes). Today, though, we’re focusing on three specific cannabinoids that many of you have been asking about as they’ve become more available in certain edibles and vapes: CBG, CBC, and CBC.

CBG, CBC & CBN Benefits: Potential for Pain Relief, Anxiety & More

Talk to your Novel Tree budtender about specific formulas and proportions, but generally, you’ll want to try these not for their psychoactive effect but for their health impacts:

CBG (cannabigerol)

CBG is sometimes called the “mother of all cannabinoids” because enzymes can transform the CBG compound into other cannabinoids with similar but potentially different effects.  For starters, though, note that CBG itself is not psychoactive.  It’s known for pain relief, decreasing inflammation, and potentially relieving anxiety and depression.  Also, remember that you won’t consume CBG alone when you settle on a product option. On the contrary, your product offerings will have blends of compounds in differing percentages intended to deliver a range of effects. Ask your budtender about the current Novel Tree lineup of edibles and vapes that feature CBG.

CBN (cannabinol)
CBN is a more rare cannabinoid.  It can be created by aging the cannabis plants until they are overripe, or by aging buds in storage.  Why go to the lengths of producing CBN? Because it’s known for its potential as a sleep aid and pain relief, while having only about 10% of the psychoactive potency of THC. The entourage effect in our CBN products may be just the right combination you’re looking for.  See our Blog Post about the “entourage effect,” but briefly understand it as a range of effects that can be dialed in during production by adjusting cannabinoids and proportions.

CBN is less widely available than other cannabinoids, but you can sometimes find it in certain edibles, oils and vape pens.  Your budtender can tell you about specific product availability at any given time and you’ll soon discover whether you can benefit from CBN.

CBC (cannabichromene)
CBC is another non-psychoactive cannabinoid.  Early research shows it to have calming and relaxing benefits and potential positive effects for pain, inflammation, brain function/neuro protection, and depression/mood enhancement.  CBC may be available in oils, vape cartridges, and edibles.  Again, check with your Novel Tree budtender for specific product availability in the Novel Tree lineup so you can compare the product offerings with CBG, CBN and CBC and land on the products that can be most effective for you!

That’s it for today’s lineup of medicinal-benefit cannabinoids.  Let us know what else you’d like to hear about!
